‘Do you know her?’
I was eager to visit my husband Mark who lived in memory care at Beehive Homes in Moorhead. We were walking down the hallway when he looked around and said, “I wonder where Jean is.”

“Jean?” I thought, “Is there another Jean here?”
Seeing my quizzical look, he said, “Yes, Jean Anderson.”
I was about to say, “That’s me!,” when I thought better of it and simply said, “Oh.”
“Do you know her?” he asked. “Do you like her?”
In a moment of self-affirmation, I said, “Yes. I like her a lot. What about you?”
Mark searched my face intently for a few seconds, then said, with a big smile, “Yes, but not as much as I like you!”
